OUTWARD APPEARANCE

I believe that The Bluest Eye deals very strongly with the identity of a person as established a by their outward appearance. In The Bluest Eye, each of the characters the author introduces are bound by their outward appearance .The Bluest Eye is about a young girl named Pecola, that lives with her parents in Ohio. Pecola Struggles with a broken home life and the constant reminder of her “ugliness” Pecola gave up on being beautiful and or cut. Yet her greatest wish throughout the book is to one day have the bluest eyes, which she really wanted her to excpet her for who she was. Since people maid Pecola to believe that she is ugly, it has negatively effected her outward appearance of understanding her true self.

MIDTERM RESEARCH PAPER

My midterm paper will be about the president Obama and McCain my facts will clearly explain the pros and cons of the both of them. I though this would be a could argument because this is somethign that is going on in the world today. Duriing the time of the election things were just pretaining to the race, there were allot of people not wanting to vote for Obama just because he was black which was not true. McCain and Obama have very good points and arguments for reaching the high standards for being president of United States of America. Knowone was tryong to vote just for Obama but his points that were maid gave the feeling that he would change just not Detroit but the rest of the USA in a very good way. Obama makes good points to the USA when McCain had soem also.

I will find all my sources on the internet, newspaper articles, and speeches, I will first research Mccain from maybe 3 different sources and Obama from 3 different sources also. When beginning my paper I will first tell the readers what my yopic is by the thesis my first paragraph which will led into I believe 3 paragraphs will be the pros and cons of McCain then the next three will be about Obama . Another paragraph will be about my own personnel feelings about the pros and cons. Also I will ask a couple of my peers about the election to get there personnel statement about the election.

ON PHOTOGRAPHY

After reading "On Photography" by Susan Sontag, Sontag views photographs as an expression of "a feeling both sentimental and implicitly magical," and sees them as "attempts to contact or lay claim to another reality"(pg.16). When an speculator looks at a photo, they get a certain feeling and attitude form the photo. It can make a person fell happy or sad, angry or grateful. Susan is a narrative on the evoultuion of photography. She makes the point that a new visual code exist because "photographs alter and enlarge our notions of what is worth looking at and what we have the right to observe. They are a gram and, even more importantly, an ethics of seeing. Finally the most grandiose result of the photographic enterprise is to give us the sense that we can hold the world in our heads-as an anthology of images". Sontag explains how a photo only "show[s] shock insofar as they show something novel"(pg.19). Her point is that the more times a person is exposed to a certain type of image, the less "surprise" there is in seeing that type of image, and the less real the photo becomes.
She asserts that this has changed the viewer in three ways. First, modern photography in concert with advances in technology has created an overabundance of pictures or visual material. photography is also not the whole truth because it is only one moment out of many, and does not establish context. At their best, both forms of media would make their own statements by themselves. Instead, other forces of culture and society have suppressed the power of both. ltimately, Sontag laments that "the best of American photography has given itself over..." In all, I think Sontag makes a detailed and coherent critique of photography through her book.

THE CORPORATION

A corporation has been known as aperson, its based on its stock holders not consumers. The corporations have one thing which is a goal "to make as much money as they can, some corporations are just in it for profits but some are here to help their community. Workers that produce products only get paid cents per hour while the product is being paid at hundreds of dollars. Some products with chemicals has caused harm to nature and humans, harms to animals such as factory farming experiments. Corporations advertise the way of life not just products, you can receive eight to nine messages undercover from just leaving out of your house.Corporations have the capacity to influence the people with a greater impact. Having such power left unchecked lets them do whatever pleases them. Even though it has been brought to the worlds attention of child labor in Third World countries and their unfair payment, it seems as though very little has been done about it. Advertising today targets children to nag their parents to buy the products. When you really pay attention to it you can really see how these big plants are really killing us and our world. Pollution now a days is very bad because its damaging the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. Lookin at all those lakes with all that trash in it just really shows how much these big corporations really care about this place they call home.

CULTURE INDUSTRY AND NO LOGOS

The world has it on flaw we as individuals found a way to make a prophet off everything like the movies we watch there inspired by others but producers get the big check to broadcast your ideal, why because if your ideal don’t sell they will get paid for producing and advertising your products what can we do about it, nothing its design for us to always work for someone else . We also build cars but in order to sell our product we have to advertise it then broadcast it .
Producers and consumers share the reason for there actions money everybody out for the
American green .We as consumers have needs and wants so we produce our needs and wants and the producers help supply our demands . It could be real expensive but made real cheap the world is design for the rich to stay rich and the poor to stay poor so we start from ground zero and work our way to the top.

I find everything about Adorno and Ohmans ideas to very true. The media has a way of telling people what they need and the people have a tendency to accept it as the truth. They go and surround themselves with what people believe is the norm. like expensive cars, brand name clothing. And all these ideas are the result of advertising from manufacturers reaping profit off of the people by telling them this is what you need. And the terrifying part is that it seem s as though no matter how hard a person tries, they will always fall people to the culture industry.
